S Paul's is an excellent venue for concerts. Seating about 250 people, the main body of the church is set back the length of the chancel from any passing noise. In addition, the long cloister protects the entrance from street sounds. For smaller concerts and lectures, the elegant Fishermen's Vestry has good acoustics and sits about 40 people comfortably. To use S Paul's for concerts or rehearsals please contact John Burdett, the Director of Music, on 001273-732521. The Brighton Consort occasionally rehearses at S Paul's. The Tallis Scholars rehearsed here, with
some members of S Paul's Choir, for their performance of the 40 part motet
"Spem in Alium" by Thomas Tallis during the Brighton Early
Music Festival 2005. |
