S<\/font>aint Paul\u2019s  welcomes Safe Space<\/a> as part of our mission to serve those of our parish. We provide the Holy Spirit chapel on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year. Run by CGL (Change Grow Live) Brighton & Hove<\/a> with first aid staff from EMS Ltd., CGL Safe Space<\/a><\/strong> cares for the vulnerable and distressed in the vicinity of West Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are open to all. It is a safe space for those who are overwhelmed and require time and care to regain their bearings. Sussex Police and Doormen refer those who are incapacitated due to alcohol or drugs, who have lost their friends or who, for a variety of reasons are unable to get home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the hundreds of people who accessed Safe Space<\/strong> last year, almost everyone was successfully treated on site. Police officers were able to continue their work, where otherwise they would have had to stay with those lost or incapacitated to ensure their safety and wellbeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pressure is relieved on the A&E department of  the Royal Sussex County Hospital.  EMS Ltd. can provide a level of medical care which prevents hospital admissions and  ambulance call outs. This represents a significant financial saving to the NHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safe Space<\/strong> is supported by Brighton and Hove Council and other community organisations. Street Pastors<\/strong> who patrol the city centre use Safe Space<\/strong> as a haven. The benefit to the community is such that Safe Space<\/strong> may be rolled out to East Street, Saint James\u2019 Street and Pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint Paul\u2019s is pleased to offer our resources to the parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
